Bio

Eric Martin spent his early years in Texas and became fascinated with photography at a young age. This interest grew and he quickly discovered that it was his calling in life. It would be many years later, attending Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, that the emerging artist would purchase the first camera in his extensive collection.

With this 35mm Canon, the eager novice applied his talent and developed his expertise in the science and art of creating images. Eric’s eye matured and his life’s passion became a career. Although originally a photojournalist, he migrated to portrait photography. Eric relished the connection and interaction with his subjects during his first stint as a fashion photographer in France and Belgium.

During his years in Europe, he experimented extensively with outdoor portraiture, utilizing the continent’s vast natural and architectural features as a backdrop. Eric’s research and fastidious documentation of techniques attenuated his mastery in use of natural and enhanced artificial lighting throughout the day cycle. This experience is a valued and practical asset in Hawai‘i's unique and challenging sunlight.
